I'm amazed it took this long for Marilyn Manson to jump into the horror genre. Along with Aphex Twin and Nine Inch Nails, Manson is one of the pioneers of gothic, horror-influenced music videos. Now, he has been involved with the genre in something of a secondhand way. It was his awesome reworking of the Eurhythmics' "Sweet Dreams" that came at the end of House on Haunted Hill. And he did make something of a horror contribution with his score for Resident Evil, the movie. I thought it was kinda loud and obnoxious, but that's just me.
For those of you who don't know, "Phantasmagoria" is a poem by Lewis Carroll, of Alice in Wonderland fame. Manson plans on directing and scoring the project, which he hopes will involve Angelina Jolie as the Red Queen. I'm not sure what the Red Queen has to do with "Phantasmagoria," but who cares? If she looks half as good as she did in Mr. and Mrs. Smith, my ass will be in the seat.
