Having previously stated that he was “done” with music and focusing all his attention on making films it appears that Rob Zombie may be softening on that stance. Fangoria is reporting via MTV that Zombie not only has cut a new album but is also going to embark on a month long tour to promote it. Read on for all the details and the tour dates:
Assembling a new lineup (comprised of John 5, bassist Rob “Blasko” Nicholson and drummer Tommy Clefetos), Zombie is once again taking his act on the road. “It seemed like the old days,” he says of the Ozzfest dates. “We’re having a band, we’re playing and it’s just fun. Once being in a band turns stressful, you go, ‘What the f**k am I doing?’ [But this] was really fun, and we came off the tour and started making a record and it just clicked. The record…we were like, ‘These are the best songs ever. It would be stupid not to finish it.’ ”
The fruit of their labor is titled EDUCATED HORSES. The album, which contains 11 new tracks (titles include “Death of It All,” “Seventeen Year Locusts” and “Foxy, Foxy,” the first single), commenced production last October at Chop Top Studios in Los Angeles; the band is now completing the final mix. “We were just very inspired this time,” Zombie says of the album, which he co-produced with Scott Humphrey. “It’s amazing how different things can be when you work with people who are excited and energetic and just so into it, that they really inspire you to create things.”
Zombie and his cohorts will launch their North American tour in support of EDUCATED HORSES on March 16th (see tour dates below). Opening are bands Lacuna Coil and Bullet for My Valentine. “The whole band is dying to get on tour,” Zombie concludes. “Ozzfest was the first time we’d worked together, but now we’ve done a tour and we’ve made a record together. So now it feels like we’re a tight band.”
