Dec 1, 2005,

This falls under the category of true-horror.  It was nearly impossible to avoid the countless news stories of the deadly tsunami that devastated the coasts of several countries in the far east.   One person who was there that dreadful day was world famous supermodel Petra - who had been vacationing with the man she was happily engaged to, Simon Atlee.   When the water struck, Petra was hammered an inch from death, suffering a severely broken pelvis.  Only after eight grueling hours was she rescued from a tree that she had been clinging to.

Petra has written a book of her experiences surrounding that day, detailing the horrific events she eye-witnessed during the tsunami - as well as her mourning for her lost husband-to-be.  For anyone interested, the book is titled "Love Always, Petra", and its available now through amazon.com.  The article below, pulled from UTV, shares more detail...

The model recounts the horrific moment she realised that her fiance Simon Atlee had been killed.  "There was not even a second to think," she wrote. "A rush of water came from all directions, hurtling us out into the furious current."

Nemcova heard Atlee screaming "Petra, what`s happening?" as she desperately grappled for something to hold onto.  "I couldn`t answer. I didn`t know," she wrote. "Then I lost sight of him."  The 26-year-old suffered a shattered pelvis and almost died after clinging to a palm tree for eight hours.

Intensive physiotherapy has since helped her regain the use of her legs.  Her 194-page book, called Love Always, Petra, begins at the moment a huge wave swept through the bungalow where she and Atlee were staying.
