Awake (2007) Review:

It is hard to know if Awake should be qualified as horror or as a suspense/thriller film. IMBD and Rotten Tomatoes, for example, did not classify it as a horror film. However, the concept of this movie is so frightening that I decided to include it nevertheless. Actually, I do not see in what movies such as Anatomy or Outbreak, sometimes considered as horror, are creepier.

So this film is about a guy that wakes up, paralyzed, during a surgical operation. Maybe it is due to my aversion of the hospital, but I found this absolutely terrifying!! And to this you add the fact that he soon realizes that the doctor will take his organs off…shit, if that is not horror, tell me! I really enjoyed the mental play of the main character, and how you can hear all his thought.

Aside from that, I have to confess that Awake is not what we usually called “an awesome movie”! The story is partly predictable and the happy ending pollutes the fun of the film. Still, the acting is great, especially Jessica Alba’s character. Thereee is good suspense and an interesting idea to start with. I recommend it.
