Aliens (1986) Review:

This second Alien has got all the good things that made the first Alien so good, and much more. The futuristic universe of the movie and the sci-fi is further developed in that sequel, including the introduction of really cool machines (the power loader!!!), the story with the planet colons, etc.

The story is a bit less surprising indeed, as we already pretty know what to expect, but nice elements such as the little girl and the presence of a Alien Queen largely makes up for it.

The main reason why this sequel is, I think, better than the original, is that the Aliens themselves are much more present on screen. We actually get to see them a lot: with hordes of them, multiple close ups, different sub-species, etc. you have plenty of time to contemplate them! The battle final between Ellen (in the power loader) and the Alien Queen is absolutely epic! Sigourney Weaver is once more playing brilliantly, something she will excel at for the all four Alien movies. Amongst them, Alien II is by far my favourite.
