It has been bantered about for a while now and I have had this info for quite a bit (but been sworn to secrecy) that MACHETE will roll in July and TOM SAVINI will have a significant role.
Tom spilled the beans to FANGO earlier today so I guess the cat is out of the bag.
Here is what Tom had to say:
Robert Rodriguez called me and told me that he has a part in mind for me in MACHETE. And if that role doesn't work, Savini continues, Robert says he would
invent a part so Danny can kill the hell out of me, sort of a
comeuppance for what I did to him in Rodriguez's FROM DUSK TILL DAWN.
Nothing specific beyond that, and no time frame yet, though the rumors
are that shooting will begin on MACHETE sometime in July. It will be
rad.
Tom of course was in PLANET TERROR and FROM DUSK TILL DAWN, a couple of his most famous outings.
MACHETE (you should remember) was one of the fake trailers featured in GRINDHOUSE and if done right should kick some major ass. Having SAVINI involved only helps to solidify the cool factor. Keep it here and I'll let you know when things get kicking. Tom sent me daily diaries when he filmed PLANET TERROR so I'm hoping for more of the same on MACHETE.
