The
news was breaking just as I was getting ready to leave for work today
and I didn't have time to get the news posted and the details
were still sketchy at best but now some 10 hours later more of the
facts have come to light.
It
was reported early on that an accidental drug overdoes was suspected
and with Haim's well documented struggles with his demons it certainly
seemed possible if not down right likely but tonight some new info has
come to surface to suggest that Haim had been feeling ill in the last
few days of his life and he was in fact at his mother's home when he
passed.
It
seems that most of the best information is coming from the website TMZ
where they are keeping an almost hourly digest of whats going on. CLICK HERE to keep up to date.
Haim
of course shot to superstardom in the 80's when he starred with friend
CORY FELDMAN in the horror flick THE LOST BOYS but for me I always
remember him as the wheelchair bound kid in SILVER BULLET. Even after
the huge success of THE LOST BOYS, he was still the kid from SILVER
BULLET in my mind. He continued working although another huge success
like THE LOST BOYS eluded him. He tapped into a larger fan base in
2007 and his career came back around when he once again teamed up with
childhood friend COREY FELDMAN for a reality TV series called THE TWO
COREYS.
A
lot of that show showcased Haim's substance abuse problem and his
continued drug use seemed to strain his relationship with FELDMAN.
Regardless
of his personal problems there is no doubt that Haim was an icon of
80's cinema and it is a shame that he has been taken from this world at
the young age of 38.
