According to THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER Paramount has brought scripter Matt Greenberg on board to helm their remake of PET SEMATARY. Greenberg comes with some serious STEPHEN KING adaptation clout being the man who wrote the screenplay for 1408 which I know doesn't sound right but is in fact the highest grossing film to be taken from a STEPHEN KING story.
PET SEMATARY has always been one of KING'S stories that totally freaked me out. The whole zombie kid thing was always just a bit to much for me. It's a great story though and the original film has held up well over the years but with this climate of "lets remake everything that ever made a dime" I guess it only makes sense that they take a crack at it.
Bringing Greenberg on board seems to be a great idea and it will be interesting to see what he brings to the project.
No director is yet attached and George Clooney had been rumored to be interested in starring but that was a while back and no further confirmation on that has been provided.
Keep it here, I'm keeping an eye on it.
